The roe deer game is widely distributed in all parts of the country. Lately the stock has became scantier that is why for some years past Bulgaria has declared a game preservation program and the hunt for roe deer does not begin before the first of July. For that reason hunters who prefer quality to quantity are welcome here . The average weight of the bucks is about 350 g. But often trophies with weight over 400 g. are shot. Winged game

What is not known is that there are many rich and good preserved hunting areas for winged game in Bulgaria. 50 - 60 pheasants, grey and rock partridges are caught daily. Hares are hunted too. The dove hunts are very successful in the end of August. Normally a group of 6 hunters can shoot more than 100 birds. The woodcock hunting on our Black Sea shore is unlikely successful and exciting in October and November. The group consists of 5 - 6 shooters. The daily catch is about 30 woodcocks. It is possible own hounds to be taken with. However the hunting areas provide dogs as well.
